After reading Twyla Tharp's Creative Habit I believe it is a very interesting book. It helps a person think about how to be creative. It also shows how such a small thing can go a big way. For example, she uses the blank white room as an example. Although this room is all white, it is where all the thinking and creativity happens. In this white room, Twyla creates her dance routines and makes money. I also liked how Twyla Tharp wrote her book. I feel like this book is both for a 3rd grader and a college student. Her use of big and colored letters really brings creatively to the book. After reading this book I noticed that Twyla does not believe in natural ability to be good at something. She believes its all about practice and practice to be good at something. I also enjoyed how she talked about rituals and beliefs. To me, this is a big part of my life because I always do special things before I do something. For instance, before I start to play soccer I always have to walk around the field to get my head in the game. I believe if I don't do this, I won't play my hardest and I won't feel concentrated. Walking around the field helps me get focused and helps me think about what I'm going to do during the game. This is the something for the yoga person turning on the candles. Twyla also talks about muscle memory. You might not know it, but muscle memory is used in everyday life. For me, I use it on the soccer field to know how hard to kick the ball for it to reach its desired destination. Reading this book really opened my mind up to how small things can have a big effect.
